Dear friends! Especially if you've already been at Cenizas, you may be tempted to skip everything and just think that everything is timeless and inmutable.
Surprise: most things have been kept, but many changes occurr each year and this one has been no exception.
As a start, we must clarify and thank you all: most part of the changes is due to the feedbacks (during and after) the past residencies.
So, here's everything new we plan for this year.

The Warm Up is gone, as we always knew it. Instead, there will be a shorter, more physical warm-up session to prepare the body for the day, followed by a much more "brainy" session led by Pierre.

Pedagogical workshops are gone. This first session will also have a very big pedagogical value, so we thought that this year things will be like this.

Balfolk challenges. They are not "gone gone" but there's something new. Catarina will offer a session that is going to help us investigate some limits of our balfolk dances, while offering a great "body" approach for the last session of the day and a nice fragment of the day dedicated to the collective.

This year we'll give a small and nice and dedicated moment to the feedback of the workshop, so don't worry, you'll get more ideas for your teaching.

There's no general theme, but this year residents are invited to be less experimental and transversal, and focus on more precise stuff. That's because the coordinator's workshops will be pretty transversal, labs will be the place to experiment, so for this year we ask you to be less crazy than usual and go for
an exercise of precision.

Workshops for Fénix are specific for that: they will be based on 3 difficulty levels and they can (and probably) be different from the ones given at Cenizas. Of course you can adapt your workshop for the two slots, but it will be different because the crowd is.

There's no theme also for organisation workshops.

There are some "free slots" that we'll fill with our best criteria depending on what we get. They may become some more dance workshops, or something else (maybe even not a workshop). We'll see, but if you have an idea that's a bit out of the box, there may be a space for that. I.e. last year we had a collaborative dj session where we learned how to DJ with a good criteria.
Be creative, surprise us.

Collaborative workshops from participants: we'll get some more time dedicated to that.

You are writing a proposal and you don't know to whom is it addressed (and we ask it for the festival's workshops), here's some guidelines and examples from last year:
“Beginner as a way of life” – It doesn’t matter whether you’re actually a beginner or not: this is about analyzing a dance from its very first moment, exploring the fundamentals in detail. Those unfamiliar with the dance will have time to absorb the basics, while those who already know it can dive into its nuances. (Example: Polska without the turn by Rom)
“I have some experience, I want more” – A process-based or immersive workshop focused on a concept, a theme, etc. The basics won’t be covered, but things usually don’t get too technical either. (Example: Find your style by Folqué?)
“Oh dear, this is hard” – A very specific workshop that requires prior knowledge of one or more dances, in one or more roles. Don’t complain afterwards.
(Example: Authentic Movement by Aljosha)

That's all we rembember, see you soon!
